42 ALL-TIME CLASSICS

There are some games that will never run out of steam – traditional, often very simple but effective games that never fail to engage, entertain and mesmerize the player.

Having this one in your collection may mean the end of boredom (if your Nintendo DS is always on your person!).
You get everything from board games (including Chinese Checkers, Dots & Boxes, Turncoat, and Hasami Shogi), to a wide range of card games (from Black Jack, Rummy, Seven Bridge, and Last Card, to Texas Hold ‘Em, Five Card Draw, Old Maid, Sevens, Memory, and Hearts). Advanced board games like Chess, Backgammon, and Ludo, as well as other favourites like Dominoes are all here.
Solitaire, Escape, and Mahjong Solitaire make up some of the solo player games.

Your DS touch-screen and stylus works great for all these, including throwing darts, rolling ten pin bowling balls, or shooting billiards.
As to be expected, you can hook up wirelessly with other Nintendo DS users to compete as opposed to constantly playing against the CPU. On-line play is also provided for, and while in South Africa the DS is not yet a basic accessory like a cell phone or MP3 player, the Pictochat messaging function is a great chatroom feature, here getting a colour boost.

With additional gaming modes making it more challenging (and allowing for the unlocking of games), this one is unlikely to go out of style.
