MORE BRAIN TRAINING From Dr Kawashima
– How Old Is Your Brain?

The first Brain Training games on the DS were quite an eye-opener on how lazy our brains can get, and this edition reminds you how long ago you tackled those various brain tuning exercises (speaking from experience!).

With some very well planned exercises to regain your brain's actual age by keeping its various sectors active and alert, these include: Missing Symbols (math problems & solutions where you need to insert the missing +, -, x, and / symbol); Masterpiece Recital displays a piano keyboard on the touch screen to play along with notes; Word Scramble rotates a jumbled word which you need to decipher and write down with the stylus; Days & Dates asks questions corresponding to, well, the day's date(!); Correct Change requires you to pick out the correct coins as change for a note; Relaxing your pre-frontal cortex come in the shape of Germ Buster, a Tetris-style game lining up capsules and germs of the same colour to eradicate them.

Brain Age Check Tests include a voice activated Rock, Paper, Scissors game; Continuous Countdown has you continuously subtracting the same designated number from a high one, all the way down; Speedy Symbols has specific symbols assigned to the numbers 0-9, and when they flash on screen, you need to jot down their symbol as quickly as possible. There is also Memory Addition, and of course Sudoku. 2-16 DS users can participate in versus games linked to a single card via Wi-Fi.

These games seem simple until you get into them, and wake you up to thereality of a sluggish brain. A daily run-through can greatly help in getting you back on track.
