GUN
Western games have a great potential, but they've never really been utilized to the extent of popular games like motor racing or sports. Here the developers go all the way - sometimes almost a bit too far. Without pulling punches they place you in the tough world of Montana during the 1880's. You're Colton White who hunts game along the Missouri with his father Ned (voiced by Kris Kristofferson). This is where some of the bad taste comes in as you shoot everything from quail and deer to wolves and grizzly bears. From here you get onto one of the steamboats where a band of cunning bastards ambush the vessel to get a valuable item on board (which is referred to in the intro flashback in the 16th century). This is not for pacifists (or animal lovers) as you blow the shit out of everything with rifles, revolvers, shotguns and even cannons. If you're close enough you can blow someone's head clean off. Knives also come in handy. A first person slow-mo mode allows you to take out multiple targets in a more precise manner. All of the classic Western scenarios get incorporated, from horseback chases and shoot-outs to bar brawls. An invigourating experience, depending from which angle you approach it.
