L.A. RUSH
It's like déja vu. The illegal street racing titles are becoming a dime a dozen as the post Fast & Furious fad doesn't seem to know where the brakes are located. L.A. Rush seems to be aiming for a bit of a different twist in its Story Mode. You're a wealthy illegal street racer with all of the cheesy music video trappings of success. A rival (whose girls likes you) pulls some strings that leads to you losing everything, except your old car with which you originally started out. Now you and your sidekick have to build up the empire again from scratch. As you progress and earn cash you can upgrade at the popular West Coast Customs - and depending on your mindset can turn it into a real class-act or a tacky, pathetic eyesore of high kitsch (yes, spinning rims and neon). Of course you can also just hit the road in a Quick Race or compete in Multi-Player Mode. Thankfully you're not subjected to the obligatory Hip-Hop soundtrack as you can either select that, a Rock or Techno musical accompaniment. Unfortunately it has macho bullshit all over it and is a schoolboy's MTV wet dream with mansions and bikini-girls.
