SINGSTAR '80s
By now most of you know that the Singstar series is basically a karaoke game - only better. You get to watch the music videos of the wide-ranging songs on each game, use the microphones to sing solo, duet, battle or just freestyle - the most fun being the playback! This latest addition is focused solely on music from the 1980s (if the title didn't give it away!). To many of us born early enough to have experienced that decade, it holds particular memories and music is one of the most poignant nostalgia triggers. The tracks selected include such favourites as Blondie, Soft Cell (doing Tainted Love), Duran Duran, Wham!, Madness, Alice Cooper (Poison), The Cure, The Pretenders, Nena (99 Red Balloons), Dexy's Midnight Runners, Foreigner, Europe (The Final Countdown), Madonna, Frankie Goes To Hollywood (The Power Of Love unfortunately, not Relax), Dolly Parton, Survivor (with Eye Of The Tiger), The Cure, Billy Joel, Culture Club, Simple Minds (the obvious one), Belinda Carlisle, Kate Bush, Run DMC, Erasure, and uh, Vanilla Ice! Sure there are loads we would've loved on here, like Kiss, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Yello or Iron Maiden, but there are always future chapters to hold out for. Medley mixes include batches like '80s Pop, '80s Movies, Party Medley and a Random function (to snub those who always hog their favourite tracks). These games give a whole new dimension to a party (as we did New Year's Eve 2005/2006!).
