SAW

“Would you like to play a game?” - one of a very different kind...

This was released close to another Saw movie in the franchise set to be unleashed upon a screaming audience.  So this would be a good opportunity to become a part of the gory story set in motion by this successful movie series.  If for some reason you’re unfamiliar with the Saw basics, here it is – a man dying of cancer decided to punish those who disrespect their lives and those of others by trapping them in elaborately planned situations involving deadly gadgets, their survival depending on the choices they make.  He was nicknamed Jigsaw due to its shape cut from each victim’s skin.

Set in dingy, dark and atmospheric dungeons of undefined rooms and hallways in a decrepit mental asylum location converted by Jigsaw, you’re David Tapp, the first film’s detective.  You’re trapped in this hellhole and have to assist Jigsaw’s victims to escape.  Other booby-traps and puzzles (with time limits) need to get bypassed or solved, with clue collection and some analytical thought also necessary to crack these.

Whether these horror movies and -games tap into our sadistic subconscious or we merely like our suspense injected with gore, we can certainly not only watch the likes of Barney all our lives… although some find that dinosaur more disturbing than any pain Jigsaw can inflict(!).

Don’t expect too much philosophy, as this is strictly for gore-hounds and horror fans who simply want to have a gruesome blast.
The excessive violence and language earns this one an 18 restriction, so please keep it away from the kids.
