SINGSTAR The highly popular and entertaining karaoke-style game series hits the PS3. If you haven't played thes before, the software captures your voice via the microphone as you sing along, and your keys are measured with the correct notes, scoring your accuracy. With your two microphones you can duel it out or team up in co-operative duets with a range of songs covering several genre configurations (incl. each cut’s music video). Rock bands include Twisted Sister, The Automatic, The Killers, Wolfmother, Blink-182, U2, Primal Scream, R.E.M., and Weezer. Fans of Alternative-Indie-Pop bands will enjoy Radiohead, Supergrass, Orson, Coldplay, The Stone Roses, The Fratelli’s, and both Damon Albarn's bands Gorillaz, and Blur. Straight commercial tunes and Pop dominate with Scissor Sisters, Ne-Yo, Robbie Williams & Nicole Kidman, The Zutons, Razorlight, Pussycat Dolls, Gwen Stefani, Outkast, Macy Gray, The Cardigans, Junior Senior, and, unfortunately Britney Spears. An old-school favourite is also added with Musical Youth. Besides picking the songs of your choice you’re also given random options and grouped song selections like: The Love Songs, Indie Hits, Happy Sad, Party Time, Random Various, Don’t Stop the Pop. Different countries also have different track listings, like France, Spain, Norway, Germany and Italy, including many of their homegrown musical choices. In addition you can go on-line and purchase additional tracks of your choice from a list of dozens at the SingStore, like Alice Cooper, a-ha, Avril Lavigne, Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Blondie, Buzzcocks, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Elvis, Joy Division, Kasabian, MC Hammer, The Monkees, Placebo, Roxy Music, UB40, Westlife and a whole lot more, including tunes from other territories (and many of the artists have several tracks available). 5 / A - Paul Blom |
