DEPECHE MODE – The Best Of Videos Volume 1

One of the world’s best cross-over British indie-pop bands not only created timeless songs since 1980 to present day, but also along with several directors (especially Anton Corbijn) projected a very specific image to go along with it via their memorable video clips. This collection features 23 videos.
The Videos 86>98 featured 21 clips for Depeche Mode singles of that period (+ an interview and a short film).
10 of the clips on
Best Of Volume 1 collection do not feature on 86>98: Just Can’t Get Enough, People Are People, Master And Servant, Shake The Disease, Everything Counts (a live clip was used from 101 on 86>98), Dream On, I Feel Loved, Enjoy The Silence (2004 version), and the most recent singles Precious, Suffer Well.
On the other hand,
86>98 contains 7 tracks not featured here, so you’ll be missing out on Little 15, A Question Of Lust, Policy Of Truth, World In My Eyes, Condemnation, Home, and Useless.
The recurrent clips include: Stripped, A Question Of Time, Strangelove, Never Let Me Down Again, Behind The Wheel, Personal Jesus, the original version of Enjoy The Silence, I Feel You, Walking In My Shoes, In Your Room, Barrel Of A Gun, It’s No Good, and Only When I Lose Myself.
A short movie by Roland Brown runs through their hits and includes interviews with all present and past members (even Vince Clarke who formed
Yazoo and Erasure), producers, engineers, press agents, and record company guys. Here you’ll also get to see bits from videos not included on these DVD collections, like the skinny, dangly boys on their early debut TV appearance.
So, this basically means that it’s well worthwhile picking up this package, as well as
Depeche Mode
’s previous collection for a comprehensive representation of their video clips (not to mention several live DVDs).
