Admittedly
I had
my apprehensions
on hearing
Limp
Bizkit's
Fred
Durst
was
in the
director's
chair
for
this
one.
But,
I was
pleasantly
surprised.
Jesse
Eisenberg
delivers
his
quite
familiar
neurotically
mature
/ low
key
/ regular
kid
performance
in the
title
role.
As a
kid
growing
up in
the
city,
he and
his
friend
Danny
encounter
Mick,
a bad-ass
with
a violent
streak,
leading
to some
unpleasant
moments.
Years
later
the
two
of them
are
in college,
and
Mick
surfaces,
having
decided
to come
hang
out
with
them.
The
carefree
life
at college,
chasing
girls,
drinking
and
learning
new
things
soon
take
on a
different
perspective
with
Mick
there.
Constantly
uncomfortable
with
Mick's
presence,
it seems
however
as though
the
young
thug's
exposure
to this
new
culture
may
awaken
a different
side
to him.
But
his
anti-social
nature
is always
bubbling
beneath
the
surface,
and
he's
going
after
the
girl
the
shy
Charlie
has
his
eye
on.
A pretty
good
coming
of age
movie
with
a refreshingly
different
take
on the
subject
than
the
bad
taste
crude
comedies
mostly
utilizing
the
setting
and
age
group.
