THE SEAT FILLER

With Kelly Rowland, Duane Martin, DeRay Davis, Curtis Armstrong

Written by Mark Brown, Duane Martin, Tisha Campbell-Martin
Directed by Nick Castle

In this romantic comedy, a hardworking law student is having trouble making ends meet. With his loose canon roommate they grab whatever jobs they can find. One of these include being a professional seat filler (standing in for celebrities slipping out to powder their noses at awards ceremonies and events, assisting in making the auditorium always look full). At one of these he ends up next to a popular R&B singer (played by Kelly Rowland). They hit it off (while seat filler rules strictly prohibits fraternizing with the celebs). Being recently single and never finding the right guy, she likes him. And on investigating thinks he's a famous entertainment lawyer. While this is coincidentally his future profession, he plays along, thinking it won't be a big deal. Sure, you know exactly where this is heading - they really fall for each other; she finds out he isn't who she thinks he is; her arrogant ex adds extra trouble...
While not excruciating, this is also no mind-blower.
People like Chanté Moore and Kenny Lattimore appear as themselves.
