BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - The
Essential
With most of The Essential series artists selected getting double
disc releases (like Leonard Cohen, Janis Joplin and Ozzy),
Bruce gets a limited bonus disc added with rare and previously
unreleased songs, having this triple set clocking in at a whopping 42
songs. The people's rocker has made quite an impact with his rock tunes
and ballads, as well as some award winning movie themes. The collection
runs chronologically, disc one from 1972-1982. It kicks off with Blinded
By The Light and packs in favourites like 4th Of July, Asbury Park
(Sandy), Rosalita (Come Out Tonight), Thunder Road, Born To Run, Badlands,
The River, Hungry Heart, Nebraska and Atlantic City. Disc two
covers 1984-2000, and kicks off with his resurgent blast of Born In
The USA. Other unforgettables include Glory Days, Dancing in The
Dark, Tunnel Of Love, Human Touch, Streets Of Philadelphia, The Ghost
Of Tom Joad, Mary's Place and Lonesome Day. The dozen tracks
on the bonus disc includes From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come),
The Big Payback, None But The Brave, Missing, Lift Me Up, Viva Las Vegas,
Dead Man Walkin' and the acoustic Countin' On A Miracle. Live
tracks with the E Street Band include American Skin (41 Shots),
Land Of Hope And Dreams, Held Up Without A Gun, Trapped and Code
Of Silence. Thankfully his Santa Clause Is Comin' To Town version
is not included. The bonus disc tracks include short paragraphs by Bruce
on each, the 44-page booklet containing full lyrics plus pics throughout
the decades.
