DEPECHE MODE - Remixes 81-04

Depeche Mode has always been an entity entirely unto themselves, no-one sounding like them or able to replicate the all encompassing dark electronic alternative pop mood, image and longevity accumulated in songwriter Martin L. Gore, the voice of Dave Gahan and ever present Fletch. Together with integral visual collaborator Anton Corbijn, they are a force that cannot be judged. Starting their musical journey in the early '80s, the advent of the remix grew with them, and they stayed in touch with it constantly. This fantastic triple disc set (stylishly packaged, as to be expected), contains remixes from across the board, including bands, DJs and audio manipulators from far and wide. The diversity of re-interpretations are great, from dark, ambient moods and cheesy up-tempo danceable renditions to spaced-out experimental sounds and hard rock / metal takes. Personnel roped in to alter the already great sounds into something new include Air, Renegade Soundwave, Timo Maas, DJ Shadow, Underworld, DJ Muggs, Jack Dangers, Speedy J, Adrian Sherwood, Club 69, Rex The Dog, Flood, William Orbit, Goldfrapp, Headcleanr, Depeche Mode themselves and Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park.
