KELLY CLARKSON - Thankful

And here she is. The American Idols winner. Whether her album title refers to Simon Cowell for the shot of a lifetime, I'm not sure, but to come up on top in the elaborate, contentious, popular and competitive USA version of this televised talent show is quite something. While pretty, Ms Clarkson is not an overwhelming stunner - which adds a bit of credibility to the legitimacy of the show's focus being more concerned with talent than looks. Kelly is clearly talented, and the real, organic instrument presence as opposed to an over-synthesized pop endeavour is a welcome experience. The fact that the end product is accessible pop come as no surprise. She also co-wrote a song with the shoulderless one,
Christina Aguilera, and can't resist wailing like her in parts. While she wasn't all that fortunate in the nose department, Kelly will still have many young fans after her. Besides her album title, Kelly puts her thanks into words stretching half the CD sleeve, as if there won't be another…
