JAY-Z / LINKIN PARK - Collision Course

MTV has expanded the boundaries of merely being a music video jukebox. Their extensive Unplugged series has become a part of musical language (from
Eric Clapton and Shakira to Kiss and Nirvana); programmes like The Osbournes gave reality TV a whole new meaning; and now their Ultimate Mash-Ups bring different musical entities together to splice their styles and sounds into a whole new collaborative synergy. Metal and Hip-Hop blending is nothing new (Anthrax & Public Enemy doing it in the late '80s, the Judgment Night soundtrack and Loud Records in 2000 ), but when you bring two highly popular forces like Linkin Park and Jay-Z together, you'll expect a reaction. This EP contains six tracks mixing up songs from both - like Big Pimpin' / Papercut or Izzo / In The End as well as Numb / Encore. Some of them flow together perfectly. What makes this an even cooler release is the fact that the bonus DVD contains both the original programme as it was aired, as well as the individual live performances. There's also studio, rehearsal and behind the scenes footage plus a photo gallery. Depending on which side of the fence you may find yourself in the musical taste debate (or whether you see these new songs as a fresh rebirth), you'll inadvertently feel that the one compliments the other.
