MASTERS OF ROCK MASTERS OF ROCK MASTERS OF ROCK

LYNYRD SKYNYRD

Good-times rock 'n rollers
Lynyrd Skynyrd (who took their name from a school gym teacher who reprimanded them for having long hair), took the rock formula of the late 60s and gave it their Southern taste of blues-infused country in the 70s. This made them accessible to the working man as well as the younger, more rebellious generation. For those who spent nights listening to Chris "The Rock Professor" Prior on radio, songs like Sweet Home Alabama and their anthem, Freebird, will be instantly recognizable. They are also of course another one of the rock legends shattered by a touring aviation disaster - leaving three of them dead and the rest seriously injured. The band was resurrected in the late 80s by adding original vocalist Ronnie Van Zant's brother to the equation. A bare essentials, honest R&R flashback experience can be had when travelling back in time with this collection of 13 tunes which features two outtake song versions and a demo track - to be appreciated by true fans and collectors.
