MEATLOAF - VH1 Storytellers

If you don't own the DVD of this show (which contains almost an hour's extra footage than the TV broadcast) and prefer its audio version (which can go along in the car if need be), this disc contains eighteen tracks, seven of which are stories told by
Meat Loaf relating to the music he made with Jim Steinman over the decades. This VH1 Storytellers series has showcased over 50 such diverse artists as Elvis Costello, Black Crowes, Melissa Etheridge, Bee Gees, Phil Collins, Sting, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Lenny Kravitz, Def Leppard, Smashing Pumpkins, ELO, Robert Plant and Billy Idol. What makes this different from the recently released Best Of is the first obvious fact that this is a live recording, the second being the in between chat. The showcased songs include You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth, I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That), Lawyers Guns And Money, More Than You Deserve, Paradise By The Dashboard Light, Heaven Can Wait and yes, Bat Out Of Hell. With the show's run between 1996 and 2002, Meat Loaf appeared around the middle of the broadcast series in October '98. If it's the stories you're after the DVD would be your choice with 11 in total plus extra songs. You might as well just get both the CD and DVD, sorting out any discrepancy.
