AMPS FOR CHRIST – Every Eleven Seconds

Apparently (according to the gospel of
AFC), “every eleven seconds a vacuum tube warms up and someone, somewhere, breaks a guitar string”. This is a totally unbounded musical experiment that ranges from beat-less distortion layers (Violated) as well as electronic beat driven ones (Augmented / Demented), spoken musings & poetry (Chorus), and the vastly juxtaposed, strangely out of place organic folk- & country inspired ditties (Sweet Dove), to sheer madness (The Crossing) and a fuzzy version of Scotland The Brave(!). The absence of traditional vocals (except for the odd tune like Sweet Dove), makes this even more of a trip that doesn’t fuse itself to familiarity or expectation tied to a verse, bridge and chorus. Not exactly easily pinned as alternative flavoured rock, this is odd indeed, but at least a damn sight more interesting than the prefab pap many of us so readily consume. So, take a chance and see how broadly you can allow your mind to go.
