BATTERY 9 – Straks

The legendary Battery 9, masterminded and executed by brainchild Paul Riekert is an independent force that swings by unexpected every couple of years, not only to surprise us, but to reinstate our faith in the ability of South Africans to produce original music on their own terms.
This 16 track slab of brand new B9 tracks is predominantly in Afrikaans (as opposed to the usual roughly 50/50 bilingual split).
Social issues, and the strange rituals, habits and odd traits of this thing called humanity get exposed to the sound of digital sound waves, flowing through both the soft and hard, many songs leaning more on heavy guitar riffs while it easily slides through Industrial, Trance-like, EBM and Dub flavoured avenues.
The tongue-in-cheek and dry humour is omnipresent.
Long time collaborator Huyser Burger does his guest vocal turn on Die Hamster Is Dood.
