EVANESCENCE – The Open Door

With the huge success of their debut offering, it was highly unlikely that Evanescence would alter their course. If you like your female vocals more furious, try Arch Enemy in stead, but for those who like it clean and pretty, Amy’s lovely vocals floating on top of the hard and grungy rock guitars will do it for you. Expect some sweeping sing-along chick-rock numbers. I’ve always known that harder edge rock music often cross over to the mainstream, but never quite as impacting as this band – the evidence dawning hard when last year I saw a house wife in a northern suburb music store queuing with a copy of Katie Melua as well as Evanescence…
Sometimes the artificially strained emotional notes hang there with themes the gummy Goths will love to devour.
On th upside for fans, they were happy to see them swinging by South African shored early 2007.
