Having
been
involved
in the
South
African
alternative
music
scene
in various
forms
(since
the
late-‘80s),
late
last
year
I took
it upon
myself
to produce
a compilation
album
which
surprisingly
had
never
been
attempted
before.
With
our
multi-cultural,
11-language
society,
one
of these
sectors
produce
some
embarrassing
pulp,
but
on a
far
less
commercial
platform,
has
led
the
way
when
it comes
to music
of an
Alternative-,
Underground-
or Extreme
variation
- that
subdivision
is Afrikaans.
What
I envisioned
with
Kopskoot!
(besides
compiling
the
heaviest
Afrikaans
album
ever)
was
offer
something
exciting
and
rare
to both
music
fans
who
had
been
neglected
in this
field,
as well
as an
introduction
to others
who
had
no idea
what
cool
hard-edged
music
is being
produced
in Afrikaans.
A common
mistake
is that
for
music
to be
“heavy”
it has
to be
Metal.
This
16-track
collection
proves
otherwise
with
intense
