SEETHER - Karma And Effect

It is good to see that SA natives
Seether didn't just pull a one-album flash with their foreign record deal. Still rocking hard with emotional vocals, frontman Shaun sticks to the Kurt Cobain style, but does take on a more screaming character in some segments. Seeing as they spend a lot of time in each other's company, some tracks have strong Evanescence characteristics. The untitled last track is a silly little twangy tune sang in Afrikaans. It's cool that they acknowledge their roots, but it would've been even better had they made it a good, proper song and not for comedy effect - still, you sure won't see Dave Matthews doing that (but who knows…). Karma And Effect is a solid album fitting snugly beside other imports.
