SLIPKNOT – All Hope Is Gone

Ironically the new Slipknot album was released here within about a week of the Krugersdorp case where a misguided kid was allegedly inspired by the band to attack fellow pupils with a sword – killing one. So, the age-old “Metal music drives kids to kill” debate came up again, an issue which I defended on eTV’s satellite news channel and on which I wrote an extensive article - www.PaulBlom.com - so I won’t get into it here. Many believe that negative publicity is better than positive publicity, in which case All Hope Is Gone should be getting quite a bit of attention. This is a great album with that unique Slipknot style, albeit a touch more restrained in parts, but just as you think a more rock feel has slipped in, they let rip to convince you they’re still heavy as fuck, with speed, power and far more substance than mere mindless incitement.
