TRAUMA CENTER – Second Opinion Even though this is not 100% medically accurate or pose any real danger, this may be a great inspiration for anyone with an interest in medicine of any kind, and while unrelated, make for a cool addition to DISASTER - Day Of Crisis Second Opinion is a Wii remake of the DS title Trauma Center: Under The Knife. You control Drs Derek Stiles and Nozomi Weaver. Where the game starts off with various OR tasks (which basically teaches you the ropes with activities like operations and stitching up wounds), events take a dramatic turn as serious infection and viruses affect even the surgeons. An important part of the narrative is the Delphi corporation, the Z-cells, and GUILT (Gangliated Utrophin Immuno Latency Toxin), a group of deadly man-made infectious parasites. Several additional characters, intrigue, danger and even some romance may have this play a bit like a soap opera for some, but an active one nonetheless (!). However, scenes of a patient infected with GUILT spraying a conference room delegation with blood won’t be seen on an episode of Isidingo! Throughout the storyline you’ll have to skillfully wave a scalpel, suture wounds, use forceps, syringes, ultrasound and surgical lasers, as well as the defibrillator. The relative reality of this game gets a bit of a fantasy / magic element in the Healing Touch function giving the lead characters special abilities to enhance the success of their operations. This is activated by drawing a star with your Wii control (and may have some cry “occult!”). As yet another more innovative title, Trauma Center certainly has its flaws, but adds to the advance in gaming as a whole. 4 / B |
