THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: Skyward Sword While Zelda is hardly adult-themed, that doesn't mean it is reserved for youngsters, as many a grown man and woman from every country on the planet have found themselves engrossed in this fantasy world across its 25 year existence. In this installment of one of Nintendo's oldest and most successful RPG / Action / Puzzle games (with over 68 million copies sold), the player is taken to the origin. After the Triforce is secured by the Golden Goddesses, and the Demon King defeated, the hovering Skyloft city above Hyrule was created to keep the Triforce safe. (Like Mario and Princess Peach) when Link's friend Princess Zelda is sucked towards Hyrule where the demons still exist, he has to find her, fighting evil powers with skill and force (incl. sword, shield, bombs, bow & arrow). In addition to hours of exploration, there are other characters to converse with on your path and activities to keep you busy (from land and sky to dungeons). You're not just on Terra Firma, dash and jump up obstacles, get onto walls, ledges etc., and flying Loftwing birds. What makes Zelda so much more integrated when it comes to the Wii system is the physical action of wielding your sword, the skyward strike, or when traveling between locations on huge Loftwing birds (flapping wings by shaking the controller up & down, tilt to bank left or right), something that understandably not as effective with regular controls. Other functions like Dowsing enables your sword's search function, to find hidden people and essential items for upgrades (kind of like Resident Evil's Genesis scanner!) You can pick up this anniversary edition with a nice bonus (especially for avid fans and music / soundtrack enthusiasts) of a special CD with orchestrated music themes from the series. Even Robin Williams is into this highly acclaimed game with his kids(!) |
