Seann
William
Scott
became
quite
a comedic
character
actor
after
dumb
teen
flicks
like
American
Pie.
In this
below-par
effort
the
writers
tried
to take
on a
sport
not
yet
ripped
to shreds
within
the
confines
of crude
comedy,
blending
it with
a dose
of bad
taste
moments
and
gags,
not
to mention
the
predictable
triumph.
Being
disappointed
with
a failed
tennis
career,
the
socially
inept
Gary
turns
his
back
on the
sport
and
starts
a new
life
as a
school
janitor.
He cannot
however
fight
the
urge
and
gets
involved
in the
school’s
crap
tennis
team,
which
he obviously
needs
to whip
into
shape
to break
their
losing
streak
and
make
the
state
championships.
The
cliché
ups
and
downs,
training
montages
and
cheap
gags
are
watchable,
but
feel
underdeveloped,
even
if the
DVD
version
is touted
as the
Extra
Big
and
Bouncy
Edition.
PS.
One
of the
said
bad
taste
devices
includes
the
school
principal’s
8-year
old
daughter’s
foul
mouth
on subjects
from
crack
addiction
to abortion
–
depending
on how
low
your
sense
of humour
is built
to go,
it is
quite
funny,
in a
very
nasty
sort
of way.
