This
documentary
looks
at the
plight
of a
group
of abuse
victims
whose
lives
had
been
forever
scarred
when
they
were
taken
advantage
of by
Oliver
O'Grady,
a Catholic
priest.
Worse
even
than
his
deeds,
is the
fact
that
the
church
merely
covered
it all
up and
simply
moved
him
from
one
parish
to the
next,
systematically
carving
a trail
of destruction
across
California
in the
‘70s.
Using
his
trustworthy
position
and
having
families
in the
congregations
see
him
not
only
as a
friend,
but
a part
of the
family,
he violated
everything
he was
meant
to stand
for.
Without
any
fancy
cinematic
techniques,
this
movie
sets
out
to get
answers
on justice
denied,
not
only
from
O’Grady
himself,
but
also
from
the
church.
A fascinating
documentary
which
has
one
angered
at how
this
man
is not
behind
bars,
and
how
the
Catholic
Church
can
live
with
itself
(far
from
being
the
only
case
within
their
organization).
It may
have
some
viewers
lose
their
faith,
while
it will
substantiate
the
aversion
of others
to organized
religion.
But,
on the
positive
side,
it is
comforting
to know
that
people
have
the
strength
to stand
up for
themselves,
and
also
that
the
actions
of some
do not
constitute
the
attitude
of all.
If you
subscribe
to blind
faith,
this
will
not
change
your
mind,
but
if you
refuse
to watch
a documentary
like
this,
your
denial
is as
big
a sin.
