DRIVEN TO KILL

With Steven Seagal, Inna Korobkina, Dmitry Chepovetsky, Igor Jijikine, Robert Wisden, Zak Santiago, Alexander Rafalski, Yevgeni Lazarev

Written by Mark James
Directed by Jeff F. King

For the most part a Steven Seagal movie very much boils down to the same recipe: our hero (with a shady past) is wronged in one way or another and he has to take justice into his own hands. Well, in a nutshell that's what this one also comprises, but it has a far less cheesy feel to it than many of his recent quickies.
In the wake of David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises, the Russian mafia has picked up as a narrative impulse. Seagal's character gets royally pissed when his family is harmed by who seems to be old cohorts. A lot of ass-kicking and shooting makes for a pretty exciting ride, standing out from Seagal's other forgettable straight to DVD movies.
