For many people Star Wars is a total way of life (as with hordes of Star Trek fans). Here, set on the eve of the much anticipated Episode One release in the late-'90s, a particular group of American post-teens are still completely wrapped up with the creations of George Lucas. With one of the group trying to leave The Force and the Death Star behind him and become a responsible adult, the rest of the gang cajole him into fulfilling a pilgrimage they'd been planning since school days. They want to take a road trip to George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch...and grab the as yet unreleased Episode One to see it before anyone else.
This trip results in a range of hilarious moments, from collecting secret info on how to infiltrate the ranch and coming to blows with (arch enemy) Star Trek fans, to tripping out on peyote. Sam Huntington starred in a similarly themed movie Detroit Rock City with a group of friends taking an icon road - to see Kiss live.
If you're not remotely versed in Star Wars lore, this movie will be far less of a rewarding experience than someone who grew up with these legendary flicks (ie. someone more than likely born in the '60s and '70s).
Some nice cameos come in the shape of Star Trek's William Shatner, Jason Mewes & Clerks director Kevin Smith (better known as Jay & Silent Bob), Carrie Fisher (aka Princess Leia), Seth Rogan, Danny Trejo (and a fake über-fanboy Larry Knowles!).
