When a studio strikes a hit like this (with both kids and adults), the chances of not keeping the ball rolling is highly unlikely!
The mismatched clan of animals from the previous Ice Age chapters including two mammoths (Manny & Ellie), a saber-tooth cat (Diego), and of course a dilly sloth (Sid), is entering another stage in their lives. There's a kid on the way in the mammoth household, and Sid is feeling left out. He accidentally stumbles upon a batch of eggs which he decides to adopt (believing them to be abandoned). On hatching, dinosaur babies emerge, dumping the team into a brand new adventure of danger and hilarity as they venture into an isolated underground paradise where dinosaurs and other fascinating (and deadly) creatures still dwell. Here they meet up with Buck, a psycho one-eyed weasel with a vendetta against a huge dinosaur (dubbed Rudy).
Scrat, the saber-tooth squirrel again stars in his parallel tale of acorn obsession. But this time he encounters both competition and a love interest in the shape of the female Scratte (with a French pronunciation, of course).
With loads of slapstick, danger and soppy moments, very little was left out of the formula.

DVD extras: a closer look at Scrat and his new nemesis / obsession Scratte; music video for the resurrected '80s tune “Walk the Dinosaur”; a feature on Buck (voiced by Simon Pegg), and his Survival Guide.
