Director
Apatow
has
been
involved
with
comedy
shows
since
the
early
‘90s
on TV
as writer,
actor,
producer
and
director.
He made
his
breakthrough
directorial
success
with
The
40 Year
Old
Virgin,
but
had
as big
a hit
with
this
unexpected-parent-comedy.
After
a promotion
at her
entertainment
TV show
job,
a woman
goes
out
on the
town
and
in a
stupid
move
ends
up partying
with
a loser
she
wouldn’t
be found
dead
hanging
out
with.
They
end
up in
bed
together,
and
yes,
she
gets
knocked
up.
The
options
are
weighed
and
they
decide
they’ll
go through
with
the
pregnancy.
This
naturally
happens
with
a lot
of clashing,
fighting
and
funny
moments
as she
tries
to get
a grip
on her
situation
with
the
irresponsible
dad-to-be
and
his
dumb-ass
pals
with
a hair
brained
website
idea
not
making
it easy.
The
great
supporting
cast
adds
a lot
to the
movie’s
overall
appeal.
Knocked
Up
was
both
critically
and
financially
successful.
Extras
include
additional
scenes,
featurettes
(incl.
the
shoot
of the
rollercoaster
scene
with
one
actor
scared
out
of his
wits),
as well
as a
fake
(and
quite)
featurette
with
the
director
of the
Oscar
winning
Capote
sent
in by
the
studio
to look
over
Apatow’s
shoulder
on set.
