Finally,
after
so many
amazing
movies,
the
Coen
brothers
get
multiple
Academy
Award
acknowledgment
for
their
incredible
cinematic
approach
(incl.
Best
Picture,
Best
Directors,
Best
Adapted
Screenplay
and
Best
Supporting
Actor
for
Javier
Bardem).
I could
encapsulate
this
movie
in a
four
word
review:
“Fargo
in the
desert”
–
but
I won’t.
Yes,
here
in their
adaptation
of Cormac
McCarthy’s
book
there
is a
bag
of money
involved
(as
is customary
in a
Coen
flick).
In Texas,
a young
man
comes
upon
what
seems
like
a drug
deal
gone
wrong.
Naturally
he takes
the
money
and
runs.
But,
what
he didn’t
bargain
on is
the
hitman
responsible
catching
onto
his
trail,
willing
to go
to the
ends
of the
earth
to finish
his
job.
Parallel
to this
we have
the
aging
sheriff
piecing
the
puzzle
together
as this
psychotic
killer
eliminates
many
people
along
the
way.
The
unmistakable
Coen
style
flourishes
and
leaves
you
feeling
much
more
rewarded
than
after
a big
budget
throw-away
Hollywood
movie.
