For
all
of the
flaws
Leon
Schuster
injects
into
his
non-candid
camera
movies,
it must
be handed
to him,
he definitely
knows
how
to put
together
a hidden
camera
prank
flick.
Something
which
the
makers
of this
disaster
unfortunately
couldn't
swing
(even
if one
of his
producers
are
involved).
Scenarios
of new
security
guards
with
a fake
break-in,
a street
take-away
vendor
parking
in front
of restaurants,
someone
speaking
from
inside
a coffin
in a
hearse
parked
without
petrol,
or a
UFO
landing
on farmland
all
have
potential,
but
get
very
little
follow
through.
Even
what
is meant
to be
a highlight
has
local
Afrikaans
singer
Kurt
Darren
invaded
on the
golf
course
(with
security
helicopters
and
all)
on suspicion
that
his
vehicle
is stolen,
falls
flat.
As short
TV inserts
this
may
have
been
passable,
but
as a
feature
film,
definitely
not.
Even
the
poster
design
is very
poor.
Louw
Venter
is a
good
comedian
whose
co-creation
of Corné
&
Twakkie
has
become
part
of the
South
African
landscape
- this
filler
however,
he could've
done
without.
PS.
The
"Rainbow"
of the
title
refers
to the
South
African
"Rainbow
Nation",
while
"Skellums"
is related
to the
Afrikaans
word
"Skelm",
which
is a
cunning
crook.
