REVOLUTIONARY
ROAD
With

Written
by Justin
Haythe,
based
on the
novel
by Richard
Yates
Directed
by Sam
Mendes
Based
on the
controversial
novel
from
the
1950s,
this
highly
emotional
and
tragic
story
of post
WWII
American
suburbia
deals
with
Frank
&
April
Wheeler,
a young
couple
at the
heart
of it.
Having
met
under
idealistic
circumstances,
they
took
the
route
society
expected
of them
–
get
married,
buy
the
house
and
have
kids.
But
when
their
dashed
hopes
cannot
stay
beneath
the
surface
anymore
(she
had
ambitions
to be
an actress,
and
him
not
to end
up at
his
dad's
boring
job),
their
lives
are
altered
forever.
When
they
decide
to shake
it up
and
make
a very
drastic
decision,
things
seem
to be
heading
in the
right
direction,
but
situations
threaten
to make
this
impossible.
Are
they
doomed
to be
shackled
to a
life
of mediocrity?
This
subject
is explored
with
great
tact
and
is more
than
just
the
exploration
of a
relationship-in-crisis.
While
set
half
a century
in the
past,
this
can
so easily
be related
to modern
times,
as so
many
of life's
expectations
haven't
really
changed
that
much.
With
great
performances,
Winslet
won
both
a Golden
Globe
and
Oscar
for
her
efforts
and
this
is the
first
time
she
has
been
reunited
with
her
Titanic
co-stars
DiCaprio
and
Bates.
This
is also
the
first
time
Winslet
works
with
her
director
husband
Sam
Mendes
(who
made
the
award
winning
American
Beauty
- which
contains
many
of the
aspect
of this
tale
in a
more
modern
setting).
Extra
features
include
deleted
scenes
the
making-of
featurette
Live
Of Quiet
Desperation,
including
interviews
with
cast
&
crew.
