QUAYE - Vanguard A few years after Finlay’s smash debut, he returns
claiming to be spiritualized. Fame and fortune brings excess and usually instant
burnout - resulting in a renewal and reassessment of its worth. This seems to
have been the case with Mr Quaye. - PB 5 / B QUEEN+
- Greatest Hits III (EMI) The first two Queen Hits albums
ssemed to be their true, definitive hits collections, essential for those who
don’t own all the albums. Here we have a bit of a sell-out with tracks not done
100% by the band. Like guest artists such as Elton John doing The Show
Must Go On, David Bowie with Under Pressure (a remix), Barcelona
with Monserrat Caballe’, Somebody To Love with George Michael
and Another One Bites the Dust with Wyclef Jean. Live tracks,
Freddie solo songs and Brian May tracks make up the rest. And, yes, a Christmas
song as bonus track. They’re all good songs, don’t get me wrong. It just doesn’t
match the total overwhelming impact of the first two Best Of albums. But,
if you’re a Queen fan, you needn’t read to be convinced or prevented from
adding this to your collection. - PB 5 / A |
