When it comes to possession movies, it is almost impossible for those who have seen the landmark movie The Exorcist, not to have that in the back of their minds. In that case, virtually all pale in comparison, so it's best to try and avoid its reference.
A Catholic priest doubting his faith is brought into the world of exorcism in Italy. Here he is assigned to assists a veteran in the field, and his faith is soon tested when what he feels may be very much psychological phenomena hits home as he experiences inexplicable, shocking and life threatening events via one particular exorcism. A fscinating movie with some creepy moments.

Extra features include an alternate ending, deleted scenes, and the Soldier Of God featurette, which looks at father Gary Thomas, the man whose life inspired The Rite (also taking the viewer into the real Exorcism Academy).
